How to Stop Coldwater Creek Catalogs: Phone and Mail Steps
Why Coldwater Creek Catalogs Keep Arriving
Three opt-out channels reach Coldwater Creek directly — a "Do Not Mail" link in the footer of its own Customer Care page, its customer-service line at 888-678-5576, and a written request — and the industry-wide service most guides send readers to first is not one of them. PaperKarma 's listing for the retailer notes that DMAchoice, which asks about 1,100 participating national companies to suppress an address, "will not stop mail from Coldwater Creek as it is not an active member of the ANA." So the work here goes to the company itself.
Coldwater Creek is a women's clothing retailer that Dennis and Ann Pence started as a catalog business in 1984 in Sandpoint, Idaho, according to PaperKarma's listing, selling tunics, pants and other apparel in sizes XS to 3X. The company operating it today is Coldwater International, LLC, based at 6426 NW 5th Way, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309, per Coldwater Creek's privacy policy . That same policy names an affiliate, Soft Surroundings, and PaperKarma's listing adds that partners may help deliver direct mail for either brand — worth remembering if more than one catalog shows up under similar names.
An address lands on the mailing file through more routes than a single order. Coldwater Creek's privacy policy lists placing an order from a catalog, phone or website; returning or exchanging an item; requesting a catalog; receiving a gift package; creating an account; subscribing to e-newsletters or email promotions; entering a contest or sweepstakes; being referred through a marketing promotion; being referred by Soft Surroundings; connecting on social media; contacting customer support; and participating in a survey or event. Any one of those is enough on its own — you don't need a recent purchase for the catalog to keep coming.
The company's own policy says how to get off that file. Its "Your Choices" section reads: "If you prefer not to receive catalogs or other communications from Coldwater Creek, please contact us," and it asks for one thing above all: "Please be sure to provide us your exact name and address, or the mailing label from your catalog, so that we identify you correctly."
How to stop Coldwater Creek catalogs: step by step
Start with the Do Not Mail link on Coldwater Creek's own Customer Care menu. Open the Customer Care page and use the "Do Not Mail" link in its footer. It is the retailer's own opt-out channel, so it is the one to try before anything third-party.
Call customer service and ask for the catalog to stop. The number is 888-678-5576, listed in the Customer Care page's accessibility note. It is also the number the privacy policy gives for catalog requests and for privacy questions, so one call can cover steps 2 and 5. Have the mailing label in front of you and read the name and address exactly as printed.
Use PaperKarma's email template if you'd rather not call. PaperKarma's Coldwater Creek listing gives a ready-made request that asks Coldwater Creek to remove the address from "all direct mail lists, including your internal house list and any rented or third-party lists," and asks for written confirmation once the suppression is complete. You can send that wording yourself through the site's contact channel, or let the PaperKarma app file it — the app also covers more than 100,000 other mailers once you're set up.
Name Soft Surroundings too, if its mail arrives as well. Since Coldwater Creek's privacy policy lists Soft Surroundings as an affiliate and partners may deliver mail for either, a single catalog opt-out aimed at "Coldwater Creek" may not automatically cover a separate Soft Surroundings mailing. Say both names if both are showing up.
Make a privacy request in the same contact. The policy's "Your Privacy Rights" section says the company "will honor the privacy requests described below made by any customer living in the United States, whether or not you are protected by one of these statutes." That matters here because the same policy says Coldwater Creek gathers data "from social media platforms and data co-ops" and engages "third-party partners to help identify users and deliver electronic or direct mail marketing." A catalog opt-out stops the mailing; a deletion or do-not-share request goes after the data behind it. Privacy questions go to Coldwater International, LLC, 6426 NW 5th Way, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309, or the same phone line.
Register with Catalog Choice as a backup. Catalog Choice is a non-profit with nearly 10,000 mailer titles on file and more than 2 million users to date. It's also useful beyond your own name: the site says it can be used to cancel catalogs on behalf of a previous occupant or a deceased family member, which matters if the Coldwater Creek catalog in your mailbox isn't addressed to you.
Skip DMAchoice and OptOutPrescreen for this brand. As noted above, DMAchoice does not reach Coldwater Creek, and PaperKarma's listing adds that OptOutPrescreen covers only prescreened credit card and insurance offers, not catalogs. Both remain worth using for the rest of your mailbox.
What to expect
Coldwater Creek's policy says, "Because we plan our mailings in advance, it may take some time for your request to become effective," and PaperKarma's listing puts that at 8 to 12 weeks — a catalog already printed and labeled can still arrive. The same listing flags two limits: an opt-out does not stop a shipment or return already in progress, and a later order can put the address back on the catalog file. If you order again, say at checkout that you do not want catalog mail.
If Coldwater Creek catalogs keep arriving
Check the mailing label on the newest catalog against what you submitted. A different spelling, a missing apartment number or an old name usually means a second record rather than a failed request, and the fix is a fresh request matching that exact label. If the label matches, the policy's own instruction applies: "If you continue to receive our communications, please contact us again and we will make our best effort to correct the situation." Give the date of your earlier request and make the privacy-rights request from step 5 if you have not already.
Previous resident, or recently moved?
For a catalog in a previous resident's name, PaperKarma's listing says to call Coldwater Creek with that person's name and your address, or to mark the recipient as a previous resident in its app — and not to mark anyone as deceased unless they are. Catalog Choice, from step 6, also handles mail for previous occupants. If you are the one who moved, the opt-out does not travel with you: marketing lists are tied to a name and address, and a USPS forwarding order can carry a few more catalogs to the new home, so make a new request once you have settled in.
Opting out of Coldwater Creek stops Coldwater Creek's catalogs and nothing else; every other sender keeps its own list. Want to stop all junk mail, not just catalogs? The How to Stop All Junk Mail guide on OptOut.ws covers the wider problem.
